Occupancy of Bu Sulba Warehousing Park rises above 70%: GWC
The Bu Sulba Warehousing Park is more than 70 percent occupied just in one year of its opening in January last year, a senior official of Gulf Warehousing Company (GWC) has said.
GWC Corporate Communications Manager Mohammad Daoud told Qatar Tribune that this high level of occupancy within a year of its opening shows the growing demand for warehouses in the country.
The warehouses are mainly occupied by small and medium-sized enterprises, he said, adding that the rest of the warehouses are expected to be occupied soon.
Qatar’s bid to achieve self-sufficiency in various economic sectors has led to a boom in the country’s manufacturing sector, he said, adding the opening of Bu Sulba Warehousing Park underlines GWC’s readiness to serve the nation’s needs on time.
Built on a public-private partnership (PPP), Daoud said, the success of Bu Sulba Warehousing Park also affirms that PPP model can work very well in Qatar.
The official said a lot of enquiries are coming for warehouses in Al Asmakh Logistics Park as well.
GWC and Al Asmakh Real Estate Development had signed a management agreement recently that will bring the Al Asmakh Logistics Park under the management of GWC for a 22-year period from 2018 to 2040.
We have just signed the deal and we are already receiving a lot of enquiries about Al Asmakh Logistics Park. Though it is too early to say, we expect a good response to it as well,” Daoud.
The GWC officials said the company would take many more initiatives in 2018 to expand the company’s presence both in the domestic and international markets.
Despite the ongoing siege, he said, the country’s logistics sector is growing at a high speed.
“The opening of Hamad Port and the expansion of Al Ruwais Port has given a big boost to our business. Our outlook for 2018 is very positive,” he said.
